Web Research Activities 

1. Research the shifting goals, interests, and aspirations of the Democratic and Republican parties over time with regard to racial and ethnic minorities. Determine precisely how, when, and why many racial minorities stopped supporting the Republican Party and started supporting the Democratic Party.

2. Examine reports and data from the national surveys that only include respondents from specific racial and ethnic groups. Compare the responses of individuals from these groups to responses of nationwide surveys of the broader American public as a whole. What differences do you find in terms of support for political parties?

3. Examine the party platforms of the Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, and Green parties, with particular attention to the similarities and the differences. Within your examination, consider which major party the individuals that support the minor parties would be most likely to align themselves with.
