Liberty Protection Safeguards

The Law Commission reviewed the previous Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) in 2017. In their final report, they recommends that DOLS be repealed and replaced with a new set of safeguards, called the Liberty Protection Safeguards. The Law Commission report can be found here:

Many of the Law Commission’s suggestions were taken up in the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019. This amends the Mental Capacity Act 2005:
